Willeke Smits (1975) studied organ at the Utrechts Conservatorium and combined her study with the church music course at the Nederlands Instituut voor Kerkmuziek, also in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Furthermore she participated in several Kurt Thomas conductorscourses.
Willeke gives recitals in The Netherlands and abroad, alone or together with other musicians. A current overview can be found on her website (in Dutch).
Willeke is regular conductor of the Toonkunst Dameskoor EigenWijs in Amersfoort, the Cantorij of De Rank in Nieuwegein, the Nieuwegeins Kamerkoor and the Kennemer Kinderkoren. She also works per project.
Willeke has her own practice for piano and organ lessons. She is organist at several organs. She is member of the board of the Koninklijke Vereniging van Organisten en Kerkmusici (KNOK) and organises studymeetings for church musicians.
